LA CROSSE, Wis., February 20, 2026 – Western Technical College District Board has officially launched the search for its next president following a collaborative process that gathered input from staff, students, and community partners across the college’s district.
Earlier this year, Western invited stakeholders to share perspectives on the qualities and priorities they believe are important for the college’s next leader. Feedback from listening sessions and surveys helped shape the presidential profile that will guide the national search process.
“The input we received from across our district was thoughtful and valuable,” said Kevin Hennessey, chair of the Western Technical College District Board. “Our communities care deeply about Western and its future. That feedback helped us identify the leadership qualities that will position the college for continued success.”
The District Board has engaged AGB Search, a search consultant, to assist with the process. The consultant worked closely with the board to develop a presidential profile that reflects Western’s mission, strategic priorities, and the expectations shared by stakeholders throughout the district.
Western, established in 1912, serves learners across an 11-county district in western Wisconsin. The college provides associate degrees, technical diplomas, certificates, apprenticeships, and workforce training aligned with regional workforce needs. Western has earned national recognition for its work in student success and equity, including being named a 2025 Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence semi-finalist and a Leader College of Distinction by the Achieving the Dream network of colleges.
The next president will build on Western’s strong reputation as a trusted workforce and community partner while advancing the college’s strategic plan, Experience 2027, which focuses on student success, workforce engagement, and co-worker development.
