At Western, we want every student to understand their rights, know what’s expected, and feel confident speaking up if our campus isn’t meeting its values. You have the following rights as a Western student:

  1. The right to an education in an environment of academic integrity and intellectual freedom;
  2. The right to expect that the College will uphold all applicable federal and state statutes and directives;
  3. The right to expect that the College will uphold all Western Technical College policies, including those particularly applicable to students;
  4. The right to review College policies, particularly those applicable to student life and services, in accord with Wisconsin Statutes 38.145;
  5. The right to voice concerns about the College in an orderly fashion;
  6. The right to expect that the College will take measures to provide a safe secure campus environment in which to carry out educational pursuits; and
  7. The right to a hearing, in accord with College procedures, should any serious conduct matters arise.

Reporting Concerns or Incidents

  • Academic Integrity Report - To report alleged violations of academic integrity, such as cheating, plagiarism, fabrication, etc.
  • Bias Incident Report Form - To report hate or bias incidents based on gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, or disability.
  • Campus Community Safety Report Form - All students, staff and visitors are encouraged to report any crimes, safety concerns, suspicious activities or other conflicts that occur on or around any Western campus. 
  • Care Team Referral Form - If you are concerned about a student who may be in extreme distress or may engage in harmful or disruptive behaviors.
  • Feedback Form - To submit a compliment, suggestion or concern regarding Western personnel, services, programs or activities, processes, or facilities.
  • Higher Learning Commission (HLC) Form - Students, faculty, staff, and members of the public may submit a concern to Western’s accrediting agency to identify substantive problems with the college.
  • Injury/Illness Report - To report an accident resulting in injury, an illness/medical emergency, or a workplace/learning environment injury.
  • Sex-Based Harassment and Discrimination - To report an incident involving an allegation of sexual harassment, such as, sexual assault, relationship violence, domestic violence, stalking, hostile environment, quid pro quo and/or any sex discrimination such as sex stereotypes, sex characteristics, pregnancy or related conditions, sexual orientation, and gender identity and or any incidents of discrimination based on a protected characteristic.  
  • Student Code of Conduct Report - To report any student behavior concerns/potential violations of the Student Code of Conduct.
