The keyboarding proficiency skill test is a two-minute, timed test proctored in Western’s Assessment Center and at our regional locations. "Proficiency" is considered to be 25 words per minute with no more than two uncorrected errors for the Medical Assistant Program. All other programs listed below require 35 words per minutes with no more than two uncorrected errors. The Health Information Technology, Medical Assistant, and Medical Coding Specialist programs will also accept online typing test scores. The test is required for placement into the following programs:
