Transfer Agreements by University

Western as entered into numerous postsecondary transfer agreements with area colleges and universities to support our graduate's continuing education. Students interested in transferring credits to other colleges or universities are strongly encouraged to check with the receiving institution first prior to enrolling in coursework at Western.
If interested in transferring credits from Western to a UW System school, a great resource to use is the Transfer Information System (TIS). Course transfer information applies to most students, but may vary based upon specific majors or programs. You are strongly encouraged to discuss your specific circumstances with your program faculty advisor and to check TIS for periodic updates.
Common Transfer Schools Western Graduates Attend
Western has numerous transfer agreements with other colleges and universities (in alphabetical order):
Capella University
Western students with an associate’s degree can transfer some of their technical courses and also numerous general studies courses into a bachelors degree program at Capella. Additionally, faculty and staff wishing to pursue continuing education at Capella may receive a 10% tuition reduction in course costs (excluding fees) and a $500 tuition grant.
Cardinal Stritch
Graduates with an associate's degree in Early Childhood Education, Marketing, Supervisory Management, HR-Business Administration and most of our IT programs can transfer 65-69 credits into to a bachelor of science degree at Cardinal Stritch.
Ferris State University
Graduates with an associate's degree in Air Conditioning, Heating, Ventilation, and Refrigeration Technology may transfer up to 64 credits to apply to the bachelor of science program in Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Heating and enter with junior standing.
Franklin University
Students earning A.A., A.S. and A.A.S. degrees can transfer credits to bachelor’s degrees in Business Administration, Technical Management, Computer Science, Health Care Management, MIS and Public Safety Management. In addition to the transfer of all Western associate's degree program credits, some of the Franklin University course credits for junior or senior level courses are delivered by Western program staff.
Grand Canyon University
Students with an associate's degree in Radiograpy or Respiratory Therapy may transfer up to 68 credits toward a B.S. in Health Sciences: Professional Development and Advanced Patient Care
Kaplan University
Kaplan University welcomes transfer students from Western Technical College. Accredited by The Higher Learning Commission and a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, Kaplan University offers more than 125 online degrees to better fit the lifestyle of our students.
This transfer agreement is designed to facilitate the transfer of Western Technical College students into Kaplan University’s Bachelor’s degree programs. The transfer agreement allows graduates who have earned an Associate of Art (AA), an Associate of Science (AS) degree from Western Technical College to transfer in their entire degree program when applying to a related Bachelor’s degree at Kaplan University.
Advantages of the Kaplan University Transfer Program:
- We offer a 10% reduced tuition rate for students who have earned an associate’s degree at your institution, as well as reductions of up to 38% for Military Veterans and 55% for Active Military.
- The Kaplan Commitment – Any new student enrolled at Kaplan University can take the first 5 weeks of their first 10 week course at no charge except for the $45 application fee. If they decide Kaplan or the online learning isn’t for them they can drop the class in their 5th week and there is no financial obligation.
- The Academic Achievement Scholarshi – All students are eligible for this non-competitive scholarship, and if they meet the eligibility requirements, they may receive a tuition reduction of 20%.
- ACE-evaluated military training, corporate training, and work/life experience may translate into college credits .
- Credit awarded for work and life experience.
- Ten week undergraduate terms. 14 “starts” for 2011-2012 courses.
- Students take two courses at a time. May transfer in up to 76 semester credit hours.
- Operates on quarter credit system (1 quarter credit = 2/3 semester credit).

Virtual Transfer Fair
Lakeland College
Graduates with an associate's degree in Early Childhood Education can transfer up to 60 credits into Lakeland College’s Bachelor of Arts degree and teacher certification program in Early Childhood through Middle Childhood Education (PK-6) program.
Milwaukee School of Engineering
If you have an associate's degree from Western in Electrical Engineering Technology (EET), you can transfer up to 72 credits and enter as a junior into MSOE's BS in electrical engineering technology program and if you have an associate's degree from Western in Mechanical Design Technology, you can transfer up to 58 credits and enter as a junior in MSOE's Mechanical Engineering Technology. Graduates with an AAS degree in a business programs such as Accounting, Administrative Assistant, Business Management, Finance, HIT, HR-Business Administration, Marketing, Paralegal, Information Technology or Supervisory Management may transfer up to half of their credits towards a BS in management in one of five concentration areas: information systems, operations management, marketing management, financial management, or business administration.
Minnesota State College Southeast Technical
Students can transfer most any of their general studies courses (100 level) including the new Associate of Science in Liberal Studies 200 level courses into any associate’s degree program.
Northland College
Early Childhood Education program graduates may transfer a maximum of 65 credits toward a B.S. degree in Elementary Education
Silver Lake College
If you have an associate's degree from Western, you may have 66-69 credits applied toward a bachelor's degree in a variety of program areas.
University of Phoenix
If you have an associate's degree in Accounting, Business Management or Nursing from Western, you may have up to 75 credits (technical courses and general studies courses) applied toward a bachelor's degree.
University of WI - Eau Claire
If you have an associate's degree in Nursing from Western, you may have up to 60 credits applied toward a bachelor's degree.
University of WI - Green Bay
If you have an associate's degree in Nursing from Western, you may have up to 60 credits applied toward a bachelor's degree.
University of WI - La Crosse
Western and UW-L have entered into numerous course-to course transfer agreements in general studies and in the following programs: Accounting, Business Management, Early Childhood Development, Electrical Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering Technology, Early Childhood Education, Finance, HR-Business Administration, IT-Network Specialist, IT-Game and Web Development, Marketing, Radiography, and Visual Communications. Additionally, students completing the new Associate of Science in Liberal Arts degree may transfer to the university as a junior.
University of WI - Madison
If you have an associate's degree in Nursing from Western, you may have up to 60 credits applied toward a bachelor's degree.
University of WI - Milwaukee
If you have an associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or Nursing from Western, you may have 60 or more credits applied toward a bachelor's degree.
University of WI - Oshkosh
If you have an associate's degree from Western in most any degree program, you can transfer up to 45 credits of technical coursework plus your general studies courses to UW-Oshkosh.
University of WI - Parkside
If you have an associate's degree in Early Childhood Education from Western, you may have up to 72 credits applied toward a bachelor's degree.
University of WI - Platteville
Western has program credit transfer agreements with UW-Platteville for the following degree programs: Accounting, Agribusiness and Science Technology, Electromechanical Technology, Electronics, Finance, IT-Web and Software Developer, Marketing, Mechanical Design, Supervisory Management, and Visual Communications.
University of WI - River Falls
Western has an agreement in the Agribusiness and Science Technology program that allows students to transfer up to 36 credits towards a bachelors degree.
Early Childhood Education program graduates may transfer up to 41 credits toward a B.S. in Early childhood Education
University of WI - Stevens Point
Western has an agreement with UW-Stevens Point to allow students to transfer certain credits in the Criminal Justice & Law Enforcement Academy and Early Childhood Education programs.
University of WI - Stout
If you have an associate's degree from Western, you may have 60 or more credits applied toward a bachelor's degree in a variety of bachelors degree programs.
University of WI - Superior
Early Childhood Education program graduates may transfer in a max of 15 credits to the UW-S Child Life Certification Program, and a max of 18 credits may be transferred to their Early Childhood Minor program
University of WI - Whitewater
If you have an associate's degree in Early Childhood Education from Western, you may have 44 credits applied toward a bachelor's degree.
University of Wisconsin System
Students can transfer up to 30 general studies credits to the University of Wisconsin system. Other agreements between programs also exist. Visit the Transfer Information System Web site for more information.
Upper Iowa University
Students with an associate's degree from Western may have up to 78 credits applied toward a bachelor's degree.
Viterbo University
If you have earned a two-year associate's degree from Western, you will find two routes to Baccalaureate Degree Completion at Viterbo University. Graduates transferring from Western can complete degree programs offered through either the Traditional Undergraduate Admission Office or the Center for Adult Learning.. Western has entered into agreements with Viterbo in the following areas: Accounting, Business Management, Finance, HR-Business Administration, Information Technologies, Marketing, Supervisory Management, Instructional Assistant, Criminal Justice, Childcare and Development, Health Information Technology and Visual Communications.
Winona State University
Students with an associate's degree in Administrative Assistant, Business Education, Criminal Justice and Nursing are eligible to have credits transferred to WSU.
