College-Wide Open House

Western Technical College is hosting a college-wide open house on Thursday, Oct. 22. All campuses and learning centers will offer tours, refreshments, and door prizes. This is your chance to find out about Western’s credit programs, non-credit classes, business training opportunities, and more!

The event will kick off at the La Crosse campus at 9:00 a.m. with the grand opening of the Lunda Center.

Graphic Design

Tour the new Creative Center in the Graphic Design Department. This Creative Center offers students a place to congregate, collaborate, and increase their creative energy as they work on their art and design projects. New technology includes an open Mac lab with 16 new computers and software, digital drawing tablets for students to borrow, and a new wide-screen TV with interactive Flash movies delivering program information to current students, high school students, and new students going through orientation.

Respiratory Therapist

This is Respiratory Care Week! Come celebrate with us and explore some of the things a respiratory therapist does. You can: Ventilate Babe, the big lung; try on a vest that shakes lung secretions loose; see the newest technology in respirators and an old one made from a washing machine; check your inhaler technique or measure your peak flow; and use a stethoscope to listen to normal and abnormal lung sounds.

Surgical Technologist

Virtual Surgery - Would you like to see how it feels of be a part of the Surgical Team in the Operating Room? Come and see what happens during surgery. You will dress as surgeons and nurses do, handle surgical instrumentation, see what sutures looks like, and pretend to do an actual surgical procedure on an abdominal simulator. Our lab is set up just like the real thing!

Are you an adult considering coming back to school? Come talk with current adult stuents and/or observe a class to see how school may be different from how you remember it. At 5:30, the students you will have conversation with are students who are currently in the Supervisory Management Program. At the 6 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. sessions you will have the opportunity to observe a management class in action.
